Admission, at last, to Hogwarts

There are times when I think I couldn't possibly love Colby any more than I already do. And then they announce that Foss Dining Hall will be transformed this Thursday into the Hogwarts Great Hall, complete with Harry Potter-appropriate dining hall options, and my heart wants to implode with delight and wonder at this marvelous, oh-so-dorky school I attend.

Just listen to some of the menu options: Marinated Flitterbloom Salad (marinated bean salad), Mandrake Stew (Italian tomato-basil soup), Hippogriff Pot Pie (substitute turkey), and Steamed Basmati Sneezwort (basmati rice). Prospective students, if you're not tripping over yourselves to apply to Colby based on this event alone, I'm not sure what you're looking for in an institution.

Truly, all I need now would be for the wonderful Terry, Foss dining hall manager and possessor of an impressive white beard, to dress up as Dumbledore, and I can graduate blissfully happy.

Edited to add: pictures are now up here.

Well, I'll be teaching a Jan Plan on Religious Responses to Harry Potter, so the Potterness will continue!

Don't worry, Kris - I plan to take an obscene number of pictures and post them here. I need to commemorate the sorting ceremony I've dreamed about since I was ten years old, after all!

And Marilyn, that is awesome! I'd heard you're teaching that class. Enjoy the conversations on Harry!
