The Angels Need "Head & Shoulders" For Their Dandruff
Hello from the Frosty Hill!
When I was knee high to a gnat I used to think that when it snowed it was because the angels had dry scalps and were shaking out all of their scalp skin down on us. And when it rained I thought it was because they were all waiting in line for the toilet but really couldn't hold it anymore. I won't tell you what I thought was happening when it was really windy.
If you're up here in Maine right now, you know what I mean about the need for dandruff shampoo though. It has been flaking...snow flaking...snowing for the past bazillion days. Okay, not a bazillion, just four. But four days is a lot of angel dandruff. Oh, and get this, it is supposed to snow until next Wednesday. In case you don't read this post IMMEDIATELY upon me posting it, we’re looking at an additional five days of snow. If you can do the mental math you've already figured out that that would be 9 continuous days of snow. If you can't do mental math the equation would be 4+5=9. It is okay; I had to use a calculator too. Just kidding, I used my fingers.
So, nine continuous days of snow. Potentially. I did hear that we are supposed to have a bit of a reprieve on Monday, but no guarantees.
Here is the thing though: COLBY LOOKS SO GOOD COVERED IN SNOW! Seriously,if you can, visit right after is has snowed here. You will well up with tears (which will instantly freeze) because this campus is so incredibly beautiful. I visited Colby after a big snow like the one we are having now and I loved it. The way everything gets perfectly frosted like a donut at Krispy Kreme or a mini-wheat or the incredible coconut cake they have in the dining halls every once in a while (all of our baked goods at Colby are made on-site), will leave you awe struck. It almost looks as though someone has painted the snow on it; it is that perfect. Touring the campus today with a guest speaker, he commented "Wow. This place is gorgeous...and look at the size of that icicle." It was a really big icicle. Like if Fred Flinstone had ordered an icicle at the drive-in instead of a rack of bronto ribs...yep...that big.
Clearly conflicted, I love the snow, but would also love a break from the white stuff falling. A little bit of sunshine and blue sky would really jazz up this first week of classes.
Wherever you are dear reader, I hope you are warm and enjoying a frosty drink.
Best,
Patrick "Snowbound" SandersNo Comments for this post yet...
