Round Two

After a short stint at home over the weekend, yesterday marked the start of second semester here at Colby. The campus is a bit more lively now that so many people are back and forced to leave their dorms occasionally. For me though, it feels like JanPlan with slightly more structure to my day. What I mean by this is, there is not a feeling of being overwhelmed quite yet and my routine is still pretty similar to last month. So far, the only difference has been waking up an hour or so earlier than usual and an extra hour of class on Wednesday.

My first impression of all of my classes and professors has been overwhelmingly positive. I managed to be enrolled in all of the classes I selected and have at least a couple friends in each of my classes. Even geology, which I am only taking because it is one of the few science courses that does not require any mathematical skill, seems as if it will be somewhat interesting. But to be totally honest I haven’t begun to worry about any of this too much with the weekend just a day away.

Keeping with tradition, the first weekend of the semester means that it is Loudness! The theme is Mardi Gras and there will be mask making tomorrow afternoon followed by a masquerade dance at night. And on Friday night the Cataracts are coming to Colby to perform. Needless to say, this weekend will certainly be a loud one. Most importantly in my mind however, is the Superbowl on Sunday. So to be honest, academics is probably the farthest thing from most students’ minds this weekend. Hopefully this weekend and semester turns out to be a good one.

Go Pats!
