To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” Elliot Erwitt

I spent January living and working in New York City. I had an internship at Comedy Central in the Corporate Communications Department. I spent the weekdays watching new episodes, pitching comedian radio tours, cataloging press, and drinking coffee. On the weekends I walked with my camera. I always had it with me because I never knew when I was going to see a picture (usually every half block). Sometimes I snapped pictures with my camera at my waist so I didn’t disturb my subject. I didn’t go to the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building. I already had those symbols of NYC on other vacations and in postcards. I wanted to capture a different part of New York. I didn’t just want to see it, I wanted to feel it.
